Urban Edge is committed to building a more energy-efficient, future-ready community through practical sustainability upgrades. These initiatives reduce our environmental impact, lower long-term costs, and improve amenity for all residents and owners.
A rooftop solar system with a capacity of approximately 210 kWp is proposed to be installed across the complex. This will significantly reduce our reliance on grid electricity and deliver measurable savings to the body corporate over time.
Key benefits include:
Clean, renewable electricity for common areas
Long-term reduction in strata energy expenses
Lower carbon emissions aligned with Queensland’s renewable energy targets
We are investing in an EV-ready electrical backbone that enables future rollout of electric vehicle charging stations by individual owners. This ensures all owners have the option to install EV chargers in a consistent and standards-compliant way.
This project is being delivered with the support of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), under a co-funding program that contributes 50% of project costs.
The system is designed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, including:
AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) for safe, scalable installation
Load management and metering solutions to ensure fair energy use
Infrastructure ready to support future demand as EV uptake increases
The EV backbone avoids costly retrofits by preparing shared infrastructure now while demand is growing.
As part of our energy efficiency strategy, we are upgrading all shared lighting to low-power LED fittings with integrated motion sensors.
Energy use is minimised during periods of low activity
Safety and visibility in shared areas are improved
Long-term maintenance and replacement costs are reduced
These lighting upgrades are being progressively rolled out in corridors, stairwells, car parks, and other common spaces.
These upgrades reflect our commitment to forward planning and environmental responsibility. With support from ARENA, expert consultants, and resident feedback, we are shaping Urban Edge into a more resilient and sustainable community.
We welcome input from residents and owners as we continue to modernise and reduce our environmental impact.
